Discover how Sora transforms monochrome images with vivid, natural, and creative color styles
A warm hello to all my readers,
In recent newsletters, I’ve been focusing on the strengths of Sora, the image generation tool included with the ChatGPT subscription. Today’s newsletter continues that exploration, this time highlighting Sora’s impressive ability to add color to black and white photos.
I visited Unsplash and selected a handful of black and white images. Then, one by one, I uploaded them to Sora and used prompts asking it to render the same photo in various styles—naturalistic colors, vivid tones, muted palettes, Ektachrome film style, and more. The results are showcased in this newsletter.
What stood out to me is how faithfully Sora preserves the original composition while applying color—a level of consistency I haven’t been able to achieve with Midjourney. Each AI tool has its own strengths, and Sora truly excels at colorizing black and white images with a high degree of control through prompting.

This is the last in a series of three newsletters about Sora. I’ve also recorded a NotebookLM podcast on the topic, where I discuss how Sora maintains fidelity to the original photo—exploring this from different angles and use cases.
I invite you to become a regular viewer of my blog — titacosta.blogspot.com — where I share daily images and showcase my work.
I also run three YouTube channels, with the most popular being @titacostaai.
That’s all for today. See you next week!
